J-PLUS: Searching for very metal-poor star candidates using the SPEEM pipeline

چکیده

We explore the stellar content of Javalambre Photometric Local Universe Survey (J-PLUS) Data Release 2 and show its potential to identify low-metallicity stars using Stellar Parameters Estimation based on Ensemble Methods (SPEEM) pipeline. SPEEM is a tool provide determinations atmospheric parameters for separate sources from quasars, unique J-PLUS photometric system. The adoption adequate selection criteria allows identification metal-poor star candidates suitable spectroscopic follow-up. consists series machine learning models which uses training sample observed by both SEGUE survey. has temperatures Teff between 4\,800 K 9\,000 K; $\log g$ 1.0 4.5, $-3.1<[Fe/H]<+0.5$. performance pipeline been tested with LAMOST survey within same parameter range. average differences J-PLUS, were obtained Parameter Pipeline SPEEM, respectively, are $\Delta Teff\sim 41$ K, \log g\sim 0.11$ dex, [Fe/H]\sim 0.09$ dex. Abundances of Extremely Metal-Poor Star Candidates

We present chemical abundances for 110 stars identified in objective-prism surveys as candidates to be very metal-poor. The abundances are derived from high S/N, intermediate-resolution spectra obtained with the Keck Observatory Echelle Spectrometer and Imager. An additional 25 stars with well-determined abundances ranging from [Fe/H]= −1.5 and −3.2 were observed and the results used to help ca...

Boron in the very metal - poor star BD − 13 3442 ?

The Goddard High Resolution Spectrograph (GHRS) of the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) has been used to observe the boron 2500 Å region of BD −13 3442. At a metallicity of [Fe/H]=−3.00 this is the most metal-poor star ever observed for B. Nearly 26 hours of exposure time resulted in a detection. Spectrum synthesis using the latest Kurucz model atmospheres yields an LTE boron abundance of log (B)= ...

R-process Pattern in the Very-metal-poor Halo Star Cs 31082-001

The very-metal-poor halo star CS 31082-001 was discovered to be very strongly r-process-enhanced during the course of a VLT+UVES high-resolution follow-up of metal-poor stars identified in the HK survey of Beers & colleagues. Both the strong n-capture element enhancement and the low carbon and nitrogen content of the star (reducing the CN molecular band contamination) led to the first U abundan...

Mining the Galactic Halo for Very Metal-Poor Stars

We study the age and metallicity distribution function (MDF) of metal-poor stars in the Milky Way halo as a function of galactocentric radius by combining N-body simulations and semi-analytical methods. We find that the oldest stars populate the innermost region, while extremely metal-poor stars are more concentrated within r < 60 kpc. We predict that the MDF of [Fe/H]≤ −2 stars varies only ver...

Star formation in metal-poor gas clouds

Observations of molecular clouds in metal-poor environments typically find that they have much higher star formation rates than one would expect based on their observed CO luminosities and the molecular gas masses that are inferred from them. This finding can be understood if one assumes that the conversion factor between CO luminosity and H2 mass is much larger in these low-metallicity systems...
